Handsome Joe and the other less handsome Joes is a band from all over Iceland. The members live in Reykjavík, Borganes, Hvammstanga and at Vatnsnesi. We have been playing together for only just 8 months. The members have been playing in all sorts of bands all over Iceland for example Loðfíllinn Pamela, lúna, Serðir Monster, Schnitzell, Langbrók, Haggish, Flow, Debate, Punk ass m.f. and eksetra. The music we play can be described as a cross between indie rock and polka music with a touch of native Icelandic music and blues... to make it simple, just rock music. The line- up is based on the usual two guitars, a bass and drums but occasionally we ad session Joes with all sorts of instruments for ex. piano, harmonica, trumpet and accordion. The members are Guðmundur H. Viðarsson (bass), Jón Rafnar Benjamínsson (guitar), Jóhann Ingi Benediktsson (guitar) and Sigurvald Ívar Helgason (drums). At the moment we are listening to Tom Waits, Shellac, Louis Armstrong, Johnny Cash, Marlyn Monroe, Steve Ray, Notwist, Yo la tengo, Joy division and many others. So, we invite you to see Joe the handsome platform runner and if you are lucky you should get a glimpse of the rest, the less handsome Joes, in his shadow, gasping in bliss.
